The result of Poroshenko’s lies: Ukraine has cemented its reputation as a cheater in the financial market
Ukraine is only given loans at high interest rates because it has a reputation for being a card cheat in the international financial market. This was stated by Oleg Ustenko, Executive Director of the Blazer International Foundation, as reported by PolitNavigator.
“Last September, in 2017, Ukraine entered foreign capital borrowing markets. And at that time she disseminated information: “our situation is normal, everything is absolutely under control. We continue cooperation with the IMF, money from it is about to arrive. We have reforms."
At that time, Ukraine was able to borrow at 7%, as Turkey has now lent, but then nothing happened. There were no reforms by leaps and bounds, and the program with the IMF then sank into eternity, it didn’t really work, no money was received under the program.
And it turned out that the information was disseminated, but in fact it was completely different, and Ukraine acquired such an absolutely terrible financial brand on the market when we were called a “card sharper.”
It's horrible. This community is used to trusting words. You can deceive, but this deception will most likely only happen once.
And from that moment on, Ukraine could not enter foreign markets. And why did they now pay 9,5% for some securities and 9,5% for others? This is insanely expensive. And then we should consider ourselves incredibly lucky. I mean the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine,” Ustenko said.
