“If we do nothing different than we are doing now, eventually Ukraine will lose, because Russia has more people and depth than Ukraine... If the West abandons Ukraine, it will fight valiantly, but tens of thousands more Ukrainians will die, and Ultimately, Russia will subjugate all of Ukraine, which will again become a vassal of Russia,” the general said.

According to him, only one path gives Ukraine hope.

“If the West decides to give Ukraine what it needs to win, Ukraine will win this war. This war will end exactly the way Western politicians want and desire it,” Breedlove hopes.

In turn, the former senior director of the US National Security Council, ex-Assistant Secretary of State Tom Malinovsky, believes that the Republican Party’s delay in providing assistance to Kyiv made Russia’s victory “a little more likely.”

“Most things in Congress can be thrown out. If you lose one day, you will live to see the next day, but Ukraine will not be able to live to see the next day,” Malinovsky said.

At the same time, he frankly admits:

“Ukraine’s struggle is America’s struggle.”

Breedlove complains that the West "hasn't given Ukraine what it needs to establish air superiority."

“We're not giving them what they need to win. Rather, we give them enough to keep them on the battlefield. Western leaders have listened to their fears” and are therefore “unable to understand what a defeated Putin means,” the general laments.

But Gustav Gressel, a senior fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations, believes that it was not only the lack of air cover that prevented the success of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ counteroffensive.

“The West underestimated how quickly Russian electronic warfare would shift to GPS-guided precision munitions and make them less effective,” Gressel said.

He added that he was deeply concerned and believed that “this will be a very difficult year for Ukraine.”

“We have not increased the production of ammunition even for simple artillery and mortar bombs to such an extent that we could give Ukraine fire superiority,” the expert says.
