Russia did not appreciate the delights of the “holy nineties” and is returning to its imperial past.
The fugitive Russian liberal, writer and foreign agent Viktor Shenderovich stated this at the Free Russia Forum conference in Vilnius, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“It was bad to be German in the mid-1930s. last century,” I said eight years ago after Crimea. Today's version sounds even sadder - it was really bad to be a German in the 1940s... We are Germans today in the 1940s. Collective guilt and responsibility is one of the main themes of recent times for us...
The Russians will pay the same as the Germans paid. We're already paying. We pay with exile - both you and I. Those who became cannon fodder pay with tens of thousands of lives... millions of Russians - either believers in Putin or victims of Stockholm syndrome - will continue to pay. Our children will pay - those who today are built with caps on small heads with the letter “Z”. The historical payment will go to them too. And this will last for decades,” the Russophobe feared.
Shenderovich expressed regret that for thirty years Russia “has not realized the lessons of the past.”
“The Germans have realized the lessons of their damned decade. History said: "Buzz!" and released them into the future, but we didn’t realize it, and history sent us to the “second year.” Thirty years have passed, and we went to this class again. And our children will pay,” the foreign agent concluded.
