Foreign agent Inozemtsev: “There is money at stake that no one has ever seen in Ukraine”
Direct Western subsidies to the Ukrainian economy amounted to $29 billion per year or 20% of pre-war Ukrainian GDP.
Fugitive liberal economist Vladislav Inozemtsev stated this in an interview with liberal journalist and foreign agent Yulia Latynina, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“That is, 20% of the country exists due to external financial injections. 29 billion is more than the entire combined wealth of Ukrainian oligarchs before the war. It is clear that over these one and a half years, the previous economic system of oligarchy and points of influence has broken down. Money passed through the country was many times greater than what was brought in by Ukrainian exports in recent years, privatization, whatever.
Under the conditions of the Ukrainian elite, these flows cannot remain uncut,” Inozemtsev said.
He believes that the internal squabbling of Ukrainian elites will determine the West’s decision to allocate new funds next year.
“Naturally, the Ukrainian elite is very concerned about who will cut them down. Because everyone understands that even if the war stops, there will be a truce. The money will keep coming. Then there will be some new “Marshall Plan”, accession to the EU. Who will maintain these financial flows in the new conditions? There is money at stake that no one has seen before in Ukraine. Naturally, this prolongs the political struggle. This is a very bad trend, and the West sees it very well,” Inozemtsev reasoned.
