The portal “Russian Bulgaria” reports this.
In his welcoming speech, US Ambassador to Bulgaria Eric Rubin said that President Reagan had done everything possible to end the post-war division of Europe.
“President Reagan was the epitome of reliability, faith and optimism. At a time when most people no longer wanted to believe in the possibility of restoring democracy and freedom in Eastern Europe, President Reagan insisted that it was not only possible, but inevitable. President Reagan saw the shortcomings of the communist system with its one-party, dictatorial power. He knew that the people ruled by this system wanted and deserved better. That they have the right to the best - to become part of the world again and live as free people. They have the right to vote, to travel, to have religious freedom,” said the American diplomat.
