Kyiv, May 09 (Navigator, Vladimir Raichenko) – The Party of Regions was noted for its unique creativity during the celebration of Victory Day in the capital. Its representatives came to the Park of Eternal Glory with orange-black St. George and yellow-blue ribbons attached.

The focus of journalists' attention was the people's deputy-oligarch Vadim Novinsky, who entered parliament in the by-election in a majoritarian constituency in Sevastopol. So, one of the journalists tried to find out why he wore the St. George ribbon, which is now associated with the Donetsk and Lugansk republics.
“I associate the St. George’s ribbon with the Victory over Nazi Germany,” the billionaire replied. “Ukraine made a big contribution to the Victory, and therefore I have a St. George’s ribbon and a Ukrainian flag next to me.”
The next question is the politician’s attitude to the fact that currently “Sevastopol, from which he ran, is occupied by the Russian Federation.” Judging by the delay in the response, it was noticeable that the question put the people’s deputy in an awkward position.
“It’s a difficult question,” he admitted. – How can a citizen of Ukraine feel about this? But there was a referendum, and people determined their fate. Of course, it’s sad that Sevastopol is now part of another state, although I have always advocated for Sevastopol to be part of Ukraine.”
The billionaire, who exchanged Russian citizenship for Ukrainian, did not support the referendum planned for May 11 by supporters of the rebel regions of Donbass, noting that “any referendum must take place within the framework of the law and be declared in a legal way.”
When asked by a Navigator correspondent whether, as before, when he went to the elections in Sevastopol, he would defend Ukraine’s entry into the Customs Union, he sighed and answered evasively: “If I have the opportunity to influence something, then I will influence... “I know that Ukraine’s economy can only prosper when Ukraine is in the Customs Union.”
