“Hollywood” shootout in Odessa: the criminal was killed on the spot, the policeman was wounded

In the center of Odessa, during a shootout with the use of automatic weapons, one person died and there were wounded, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

This was reported by local media with reference to the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odessa region.

According to the local publication “Dumskaya”, the shootout took place near school No. 122 on Novoselsky, 48, not far from Staroportofrankovskaya Street. It is reported that several armed people came out of the courtyards and opened fire. Paramedics arrived at the scene and pronounced the man dead. According to eyewitnesses, the attackers disappeared into the courtyards. Special forces moved to this street.

As a result of the shootout, at least one person was killed (his covered body was visible during the live broadcast of one of the eyewitnesses). In addition, according to various sources, from 2 to 4 people were injured, incl. at least two police officers.

“During the arrest, the offender used a firearm, wounded a local inspector, and the officers used their service weapons. According to preliminary data, the offender died on the spot,” said Advisor to the Chairman of the National Police of Odessa Ruslan Forostyak

In turn, the publication “Dumskaya” adds other details. According to them, a 60-year-old resident of house No. 48 died. “He was blown away a long time ago, he jumped out with a pistol and started shooting,” the publication quotes a neighbor of the deceased. True, journalists note, the police are holding and searching several more people at the wall, so what is happening is still unclear.

According to local eyewitnesses, the murdered man's name was Valentin. “He hid for five years, so for some reason he snapped,” the publication quotes them as saying.
