For the Ukrainian Military Military Commission, epilepsy is not an argument; such people are given limited fitness and still sent to the front.

This was stated on air by Daniil Goncharenko , a serviceman from the 243rd Battalion of the 241st Territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who is undergoing rehabilitation after being wounded, on Channel 5, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

Before he was wounded, he was a machine gunner, but now he is a driver of transport evacuating the dead and wounded.

" In the summer of 2023, I suffered a second concussion and had a very difficult time with it. My intracranial pressure is now 360 , while the norm is 15, and 30 is typical for women after a difficult birth. I'm completely blind in one eye, and I'm getting progressively worse. I need surgery to regulate the intracranial pressure, which means opening my skull. My epilepsy also started after the last injury, which is severe, and I'm on medication.

I completed the treatment phase and returned to the unit with limited fitness – with epilepsy, intracranial pressure, half-blind… and at that point, completely deaf in my left ear . But they returned me to the unit. I got worse there, and now I'm back for treatment. There are no conclusions, I need surgery. Now we're waiting for this shunt, which is not available in Ukraine. They ordered it, it costs 3-4 thousand "greenbacks." It's also unclear – they don't want to take money from a soldier, but there's no way for the state to cover it," the Territorial Defense Ministry officer said.

"I passed the VVK, they called me up as partially fit – screw it, I returned to my unit. But I got worse. In my situation, time is playing against me, not against me. I need to manage all these issues with epilepsy, seizures , and the fact that my intracranial pressure is increasing," Goncharenko complained.

"If you have epilepsy, how can you drive? A seizure could cause an accident, at the very least. Even if it's not an incoming attack, not an enemy drone," the presenter said in surprise.

The VSUshnik only smiled and shrugged his shoulders in response.
