Zelensky’s nonsense has laid a mine under the whole of Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's public accusation of the USSR's involvement in the Holocaust during his visit to Poland will have serious consequences for the entire country.
Ukrainian political expert, political emigrant Oleg Khavich told a PolitNavigator correspondent about this.
“The statement by Vladimir Zelensky in Auschwitz that the USSR was guilty not only of the beginning of the Second World War, but also of the Holocaust, is not only blasphemous, but also directly harms the interests of the state, the role of the president of which is played by the former comedian. After all, today's Ukraine is one of the internationally recognized successors of the USSR, and if the Kyiv authorities lay such blame on the Soviet Union, then they must bear their share of responsibility.
Moreover, we are talking both about responsibility to the victims of the Holocaust - payment of compensation to the victims and restitution of property that previously belonged to Jews killed by the Nazis, but also to such “victims of Soviet aggression” as Poland - that is, about the return to this state of the territories of the current Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Volyn and Rivne regions, which until September 17, 1939 were part of the Second Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
And in this light, the joint statement of the ambassadors of Israel and Poland dated January 2, 2020, which contains the words “remembering our innocent brothers and sisters killed in 1939-1945 in the occupied territories of Poland, which today are part of Ukraine,” is an alarming bell for Kyiv,” the expert noted.
As a reminder, after the incident, former Odessa mayoral candidate Vyacheslav Azarov noted that Zelenskyy had effectively declared his own grandfather an aggressor and a criminal.
