The chief Ukrainian border guard accused Russia of a “cigarette conspiracy”
Russia is secretly trying to discredit official Kyiv with its attempts to smuggle large volumes of smuggled cigarettes to Serbia through Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This opinion was expressed to 112.ua by the head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Petr Tsigikal.
“If we take the cigarette issue, the latest arrests indicate that they are trying to smuggle large volumes of cigarettes from Russia to Serbia. Again there is an attempt to discredit our department so that we will let it pass and the smugglers will go to Europe. Europeans don’t see where and how these cigarettes get to us. We have a good school of criminal analysis - more than 15 years. Now we are already training specialists from the National Police at our academy,” he said.
