Germany will buy Russian gas for another 30 years
Despite the anti-Russian rhetoric of the German authorities, the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project for delivering fuel to the EU bypassing Ukraine will be implemented. German political scientist Alexander Rahr stated this on TVC.

“The pipeline is needed primarily for the German economy, which is growing. It is impossible to obtain electricity from the sun, wind and sand in Germany. We need gas if we give up coal. It will be needed for another 20-30 years while we switch to renewable sources,” Rahr said.
He expressed bewilderment at Poland, which is refusing cheap Russian gas from Nord Stream in favor of expensive American liquefied gas.
In June, Gazprom signed memorandums of understanding with the German E.On, the Anglo-Dutch Shell and the Austrian OMV, providing for cooperation on a project to create a gas transportation infrastructure for the direct delivery of Russian gas to European consumers.
The parties intend to build two strings of a gas pipeline from the Russian coast through the Baltic Sea to the German coast. The capacity of the new gas pipeline called Nord Stream 2 will be 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
