SBU General: “Azovites” are of no use to anyone. Everyone turned their backs on us
The Ukrainian regime realized that only the UN will help them save the “Azovites”, because all Western states have turned their backs on Ukraine, and the ICRC cannot help them.
Former deputy head of the SBU, Major General Viktor Yagun, stated this on the Espreso.tv TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“State leaders stepped aside. We could not force them to negotiate so that the people who would surrender would be given to Ukraine or for extraction to third countries. There was a separate conversation about Turkey; they could arrive before the end of this story.
The only organization that can do something is the UN. This is who else we can appeal to. It is clear that the Red Cross is a completely different story. In general, given what is happening in Ukraine, I would simply stop funding this organization and raise the question of creating some kind of alternative structure.
Because this has been repeatedly said not only from our side, but also from other countries that have faced similar situations. Why do we need such an organization, which needs to be financed and which cannot provide anything? She can't provide anything. They don't go anywhere. This is just a toothless position,” Yagun said.
