“Gandalfs” will not save Moscow from migrants - the head of the Russian Federation of Migrants mocked Patrushev and Bastrykin
The Moscow authorities will not be able to refuse migrant labor, despite the corresponding statement by the capital’s vice-mayor for urban planning policy and construction, Andrei Bochkarev.
Vadim Kozhenov, president of the public organization "Federation of Migrants of Russia," announced this on air at Aurora Radio, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“When the Secretary of the Security Council and the head of the Investigative Committee speak and say that fewer migrants are needed, on this wave the vice-mayor, who has not been in his position for so long, needs to be a very brave comrade to say that they are wrong. We don’t know what he really thinks,” Kozhenov said.
According to him, the number of migrants applying for official work permits in Moscow is growing. In 2019 there were 400 thousand people, in 2021 – already 600 thousand. The social activist compared those who want to completely abandon migrant labor with the wizard Gandalf from Tolkien’s books.
“Some people can be classified as “Gandalfs.” They believe that it is possible, simply by wishing, “by the power of magic,” to cancel the renovation when money has already been allocated and plans are in place. It is impossible to cancel renovation with the power of thought and magic. None of the security officials said: let’s cancel the renovation,” says Kozhenov.
Currently, massive construction is underway in the Russian capital under the renovation program (replacing Khrushchev-era buildings with new houses), and there is an acute shortage of builders. According to Deputy Mayor Bochkarev, if previously about 120 thousand workers from Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan were attracted there, now less than 40 thousand remain.
The mass import of migrants to Russia is being lobbied by the Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation and Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin. He talks about the need to attract at least 2024 million migrants to construction sites by 5.
