The EU demands that Belgrade join sanctions against Russia

EU official Peter Stano said that Brussels expects Serbia to show solidarity with the European position on anti-Russian sanctions.

“Our position is very clear when it comes to supporting our sanctions - candidate countries such as Serbia are expected to gradually harmonize their decisions and positions with the EU in foreign and security policy,” Stano said. – Putin violated international law, barbarously attacked a neighboring country and intends to destroy a sovereign, independent Ukraine. This is against all international principles, against the UN Charter itself. The EU strongly condemns this and will respond with powerful sanctions that limit Russia’s capabilities.”

The EU spokesman also said that Brussels expects “our partners and allies to follow this example in defending the sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, in defending European security and stability and in defending international rules and principles.”
