State Duma deputy Vyacheslav Nikonov announced this on the talk show "60 Minutes." According to him, recognizing documents issued in the republics is far from Russia's last step.
“Russia, in my opinion, before recognition, is quite capable of providing military assistance to the republics and doing this quite openly, in the amounts that will be necessary to ensure the sovereignty of the republics. I mean those weapons systems that, naturally, cannot exist in the republics, because there is no Russian military assistance there. In addition, they can really scoff, and some Russian volunteers may appear there in large numbers, already more serious volunteers than those who are there. There are still many things that could happen,” Nikonov warned.
Earlier, Ukraine admitted that the Russian group in Crimea is capable of destroying the "toy Ukrainian fleet" in 40 minutes.
