Expert: Neither Russia nor the West have yet used the full available potential
Although the fighting in Ukraine is positional in nature, it is incorrect to compare the Northern Military District with the First World War.
Publicist Alexey Anpilogov stated this on air for Komsomolskaya Pravda, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The studio noted that the Special Military Operation is in some ways similar to the First World War, during which trench warfare lasted for years.
“These analogies are not entirely correct. Now, if Kaiser Wilhelm had carried out a Special Military Operation against France, we would not be talking about a world war.
In the First World War, all sides used, from day one, all available means of attack and defense. Everything they had. Then gases and tanks appeared. But in the first year, all sides played all their cards - they used artillery, all the infantry, and only then they invented something,” the publicist said.
He emphasized that now the warring parties are using only part of the forces available to them, and with the introduction of new weapons, the situation at the front is changing.
“In our situation, Russia, and even the sponsors of Ukraine, do not use the entire available arsenal. We do it for objective reasons, the West rather for subjective reasons, because they are afraid of our unlimited response.
And this impasse is situational, it is not objective. And we see that with the arrival of new weapons, for example, glide bombs, the picture on the contact line changes greatly.
In exactly the same way as the assault troops in Artyomovsk turned out to be the weapon against which the Ukrainian Armed Forces have no answer. And even sitting on the defensive, they suffer 4-5 times more losses. From the Ukrainian side, these are just kilometer-long rows of graves with flags,” Anpilogov summed up.
