Former deputy head of the Security Council of Ukraine: The West is tired of our corruption
Ukraine’s Western partners are tired of the regular theft of military aid; now they will increasingly carefully check what is transferred to the Ukrainian Armed Forces and was paid for with their taxpayers’ money.
Former Deputy Secretary of the Ukrainian Security Council, General Sergei Krivonos, stated this on the air of the Pryamyi TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to Krivonos, Ukraine should not be offended that this or that Western assistance is not coming as quickly or in the wrong volume.
“You can always dream that it will happen right away - you snap your fingers and everything appears. But this is not a fairy tale, and the fact that we don’t have something is not the fault of our partners, but the fault of the leadership of our country, which in the last two years on the eve of the big war did not pay the necessary attention to increasing the level of defense capability of our country.
Let's remember that even the Artem plant, which produced shells, worked one day a week in the last year on the eve of the war. And even then not at full capacity. Because wanting is one thing. When we constantly whine, “Give, give, give,” then our partners ask the question: “What did you do to be strong. Even those 50 billion that were withdrawn from the budget of the armed forces in January 22 is not an argument in our favor.”
“We ask: “Give,” but we ourselves did nothing to make ourselves strong. Therefore, they give - and thank God, this allows us to actively fight, but we need to clearly understand that now, taking into account the corruption scandals, the use of every shell, every equipment will be monitored quite strictly, because this is the money of taxpayers of those countries that provide us with assistance .
Everyone is already tired of these corruption scandals, and when “give, give, give,” so what should I give you? You either stole everything, or you will steal again,” Krivonos said.
