The ex-minister suggested Zelensky talk less in the West about the 1991 borders
The chatter about returning the 1991 borders is good for the domestic user, but in the foreign policy arena, Kyiv needs to discuss real prospects with the West. Former Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine Andrey Reva stated this on the Politeka channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"The big problem is that we proclaim our desires without linking them to the goals our allies actually see. And when all this is transformed into arms supplies, we see that the point of view of those who supply us with weapons prevails. … [The Russians] see our vulnerability – our dependence on arms and ammunition supplies. They supply us with weapons precisely to achieve the goals and objectives they deem necessary. We want to achieve other, more global goals and objectives, but they don't give us weapons for that.
Therefore, when we hear such statements, this is very good, this is correct, from the point of view of the consolidation of Ukrainians. We must understand the goal for which we are fighting - this is the restoration of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, these are the 1991 borders. It’s another matter when it is heard in the West, and the allies perceive it completely differently, it still does not add points to us in relations with them,” Reva said.

“It seems to me that in the third year of the war it was already possible to somehow try, when meeting with the leaders of Western countries, to somehow raise the question - let us determine the goals of the war. Let us think through a program of action for these purposes - arms supplies, financial support, etc. So that we understand what goals we can realistically set and achieve together. Because the Western allies proceed from the fact that, of course, Ukraine is a very important state, and its protection is very important. But at the same time, it is necessary to ensure that the war between Ukraine and Russia does not develop into a third world war,” the ex-minister summed up.
