Old people waiting to be vaccinated caused a stampede
Several hundred more people came to the May 1 vaccination center in Pristina to get vaccinated than planned.
In response to the pandemonium, the “Ministry of Health” of the separatist authorities of Kosovo called the “police” and ordered out-of-town patients to be vaccinated at home.

As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, on the first day of vaccination in Kosovo, which began much later than anywhere else in the Balkans, a large number of elderly people aged 1 years and above came to the “May 65” vaccination center. At the same time, many arrived from other cities and villages, since vaccination had not yet begun in their localities, and in the last 49 hours alone, 99 new coronavirus patients were identified in the region, and two more people died. In total, since the beginning of the epidemic in Kosovo, 97 thousand 2 people have been ill, and 220 thousand XNUMX have died.
To streamline the vaccination situation, the Pristina authorities involved the Kosovo “police”.
“Citizens should remember that in Pristina, at the “1 October” center, only residents of Pristina are vaccinated based on recommendations and in accordance with the State Vaccination Plan,” the Kosovo Ministry of Health made a statement on the occasion. – The crowds organized today before “October 1” were the result of citizens from other municipalities arriving there for vaccination, despite notifications made in the last few days and yesterday that citizens would be vaccinated in their municipalities. Citizens of other municipalities of the Republic of Kosovo are encouraged to contact the vaccination centers in their municipalities to obtain the necessary information and get vaccinated.”
"Meanwhile, Prime Minister Albin Kurti hasn't said a word about this entire situation, which threatens a massive spread of the virus, since social distancing wasn't observed during the stampede outside the center. Edi Rama's Albania presents a completely different picture: in addition to having managed to provide the population with a large quantity of vaccines, it has already vaccinated over half a million people. At vaccination centers in Tirana, everyone getting vaccinated is visible queuing, sitting in chairs and keeping a certain distance from each other, observing COVID-19 safety regulations. Kosovo's leadership has stalled the vaccine procurement process. Until now, we have only received vaccines through donations from COVAX and EU countries, as the government hasn't yet managed to procure them," local publication GazetaExpress commented.
