Donbass is degrading, that’s why it’s seething, - Governor of Taruta
Kyiv, September 11 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – Chairman of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Sergei Taruta believes that the conflict in Donbass arose due to the “degradation” of the Donetsk people.

“The majority of people in Donbass were engaged in hard work. 25% are unemployed. They perceive life differently. An explosive mass that created a protest movement,” Taruta said, answering a question from the moderator of the meeting during the “Yalta European Strategy” about why the conflict of the current format arose in the Donbass.
“Donbass is different from Dnepropetrovsk. Different from Kharkov. This is a very industrial region, which over the course of 15-20 years has been constantly degrading, in terms of work, the opportunity to have a future, many people who lived below the poverty line, many mining villages that are difficult to imagine, only in the Donbass there is an explosive mass. She was zombied by Russian propaganda, and she believed that her happiness was only on the border. If there was another country there, they would be drawn to another country. This led to a protest movement,” says the Donetsk governor.
“Political strategists came to Donbass and carried out the seizure of Crimea. It was yeast,” Taruta said.
“When we realized that there was no request from the majority of the population - we have many complaints against the deputies, but not a single local council supported the resolution of secession from Ukraine - protest movements cannot shake up Donbass, they began to shake it with tanks and bombs,” Taruta said.
Let us note that, in continuation of the discussion, singer Svyatoslav Vakarchuk asked Taruta, as a Donetsk oligarch, why a difficult economic and social situation has developed in Donbass over the past 20 years.
