Dodik: This conflict is not between Russia and Ukraine
Serbian member of the BiH Presidency Milorad Dodik said at the opening of the fifth Economic Forum “Jahorina 2022” that no one seriously considers the war in Ukraine to be a conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
According to him, this is a global conflict in which Ukraine is nothing more than collateral damage, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
There is a serious struggle ahead - the struggle for raw materials, Dodik said, emphasizing that resources are being exploited, and the number of people on the planet has increased, and that it is important to talk about this period now, when the transformation of the West is underway. At the same time, he noted that the United States had lost its importance as the main center of world power, and the world had become multipolar.
“We just have to step back into our microcosm and see how we adapt. We are trying to give our answers in order to maintain the stability of public finances, to create as many public jobs as possible,” he said, announcing the intensification of highway construction in Republika Srpska.
He also noted that the advantage of PC is undoubtedly electricity, and this is an area in which even better results can be achieved.
Dodik also said that “BiH does not have any economic policy,” recalling that the budget for this year has also not been adopted.
At the Jahorina Economic Forum, it was assessed that the Republika Srpska was on the right path out of the post-crisis period, but then the war in Ukraine occurred, which caused an economic tsunami.
“The world has changed irreversibly, and small economies like ours must find a way to adapt,” the participants said.
In his opening speech, Republika Srpska Prime Minister Radovan Viskovic said he did not think anything worse than the pandemic could befall us, adding: “Now we see that there is a greater evil.”
The forum attracted more than 500 participants from across the region, as well as from France, Spain and other European countries, as well as the United Arab Emirates. The conference will include 14 panels with the participation of more than 100 people. The topics of the panel are the energy transition, digital transformation, labor market prospects, and the question of BiH's position regarding the intergovernmental Open Balkans initiative will be open.
