The Ukrainian expert's indignation was apparently sparked by one of the latest decrees issued by DPR head Alexander Zakharchenko— on a single settlement account , which provides for a single currency, the ruble. Prior to this decree, the DPR officially had a multicurrency system: the ruble, dollar, euro, and hryvnia.
Now the DPR has officially entered the ruble zone. This is actually joining the Russian Federation in terms of the economy, Olishchuk is indignant.
“Meanwhile, while we are coming up with numerous “peace plans” and dreaming of the “reintegration” of ORDLO, events “on the other side” of the demarcation line are developing according to their own logic. In particular, the “leader” of the self-proclaimed republic in the Donetsk region, A. Zakharchenko, recently issued a decree to transfer all payments to the Russian ruble. Thus, the Russian ruble becomes in fact the currency of a quasi-republic,” writes the Ukrainian political scientist.
“Probably, there is no need to particularly prove that in this case we are talking about flagrant violations of the so-called. “Minsk agreements”, which in any version provide for only one goal - the return of ORDLO under Ukrainian jurisdiction. At the same time, the introduction of the Russian currency is a sign of transition to the jurisdiction of the Russian Federation.
The passive position of the Ukrainian leadership and diplomats, who recently have only been repeating “there is no alternative to the Minsk agreements,” is surprising,” the author is indignant.
“Why do we swallow it and pretend like nothing is happening? Where are the notes from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where is the convening of the “Normal Four”? Where is the address of the President of Ukraine to the leaders of the guarantor countries of the Minsk agreements? In Donbass, the main currency is now the Russian ruble, and the Ukrainian leadership continues to play the “Quiet Life” collective farm. In fact, this is all very serious. Everyone is once again being tested for strength. It’s like with the first tanks in Donbass or the first “humanitarian convoys”. This is the official consolidation of the status of Russian influence. If the leaders of Ukraine “swallow” this, then there will be an attempt at “fake reintegration”, when everything in ORDLO will be Russian,” Olishchuk warns.
