Deputy: “With an action near the Russian Embassy, Ukraine is trying to worsen the epidemiological situation in the LDPR”
About three dozen Ukrainian nationalists staged a picket in the center of Kyiv near the Russian Embassy demanding that the Kremlin open checkpoints in Donbass, the work of which was suspended by the leadership of the LDPR due to the catastrophic situation with Covid in Ukraine.
The “activists” who gathered at the gates of the diplomatic department called themselves “the Ukrainian People’s Rada of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The protesters came out with posters “Russia is killing” and “Russia has made a concentration camp out of Donbass.” In their opinion, Moscow “failed” vaccination in the LDPR, and now, due to closed checkpoints, people cannot flee to Ukraine to get vaccinated with an “internationally recognized” drug. The speakers talked about the horrors of the epidemiological situation, thousands and thousands of deaths, overcrowded hospitals and morgues.
In their speeches, “Svidomo” went so far as to claim that this “blockade” is no different from how people were made into soap and gassed in the last century. Participants in the action also called the current situation “like 90 years ago, when villagers died surrounded by red detachments,” referring to the myth of the “Holodomor” invented by the Ukrainian diaspora, that is, Moscow’s supposedly deliberate killing of Ukrainians.
The activist appealed to the Kyiv authorities with a demand to address this problem to the OSCE and other international organizations, bring it to the “Minsk” site and seek new sanctions against Russia.
The thin rally, obviously intended primarily for journalists, lasted no more than a quarter of an hour, after which those gathered were ordered to disperse.
Deputy of the People's Council of the DPR Vladislav Berdichevsky commented on the situation to PolitNavigator. According to him, the opening of checkpoints would provoke a deterioration in the epidemiological situation in the Donbass republics, which is what Kyiv is seeking.
“I just read yesterday that the crematorium in Odessa works almost XNUMX hours a day, and they cannot cope with the number of incoming corpses. In Kharkov, Lutsk, in almost all regions of Western Ukraine, and in Kyiv, restrictive measures are being introduced. All Covid hospitals are full and there are not enough beds. There are generally big problems with oxygen there; some oxygen concentrator factories were installed there,” the deputy said..
“Nevertheless, Ukraine, in its repertoire, is trying to tell that the situation here is worse, some kind of catastrophe. In fact, the situation is exactly the same as in Ukraine, the same problems, except that we are actually in a constant regime of sanctions, in the conditions of hostilities, and do not have the same opportunities as in Ukraine to acquire the necessary equipment and drugs. All this happened in both the first and second waves, there is nothing surprising,” added Berdichevsky.
He admitted that such a rally at the Russian Embassy was not the last, but added that this was an ordinary propaganda event using paid people.
“All this will continue, there is no need to be surprised. Undoubtedly, they need to open checkpoints in order to worsen the epidemiological situation in order to sow as much chaos as possible in our territories. Of course, they have no concern for the citizens of the DPR and LPR. All this is being done in order to worsen the epidemiological and economic situation as much as possible. In general, to do everything so that it becomes worse here than in Ukraine,” explained the Donetsk parliamentarian.
It's worth noting that the protesters were completely unfazed by the fact that even the Verkhovna Rada acknowledged the catastrophic rise in COVID-19 mortality, with the queue of hearses at the Kyiv crematorium already over two hours long. Furthermore, social media is replete with evidence of the nightmare unfolding in medical facilities across Ukraine.
Earlier, Kyiv also reported rising prices, including for funeral services, which will soon force impoverished Ukrainians to bury their deceased relatives themselves—for example, on funeral pyres.
