Even potential defectors disdained Poroshenko’s “cathedral”
As a result of pressure, violence and persecution, the Kyiv schismatics managed to lure only two renegades from the UOC.
Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs Konstantin Zatulin stated this on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As one might expect, the mountain gave birth to a mouse. The conversation that this will be a council at which all schismatics will be represented along with the UOC, recognized throughout the world, did not end in anything significant,” the politician noted.
“There were two renegades who broke all oaths and commandments. I mean Poroshenko’s home metropolitan Simeon of Vinnitsa, who was tempted by the opportunity to be the head of this church and lost, and the non-parish Metropolitan Drabinko, who is everywhere present at such gatherings, who became a metropolitan solely due to the fact that he succeeded in sycophancy with the late Metropolitan Vladimir Sabodan, who for a very long time was sick.
These two “representatives” of the UOC are all that was achieved as a result of pressure, violence, and persecution. It may very well be that some priests of the UOC actually thought about autocephaly, but when faced with how this “process” was being carried out, they got scared and did not want to dirty their clothes with it,” Zatulin said.
