Chubarov announced a provocation on the border with Crimea
As a sign of protest against the initiatives of some European officials to return the Russian delegation to the right to vote in PACE, members of the Mejlis will approach them with a proposal to organize a joint provocation on the state border with Crimea, crossing on foot from Ukrainian to Russian territory.
The head of the Mejlis, banned in the Russian Federation, Refat Chubarov, stated this during a rally on Maidan, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Yesterday and the day before yesterday, events took place in the Cabinet of Ministers of the Council of Europe that for us represent a challenge for Ukraine. The Cabinet of Ministers of the Council of Europe made a decision that could pave the way for the restoration of the powers of the Russian delegation in PACE. You know that now the entire delegation has been suspended in its powers.
And I had some misunderstandings about some of the motivations. The German Foreign Minister said that “It is very important that Russia is among us, and that Russian citizens have the opportunity to appeal to the European Court of Human Rights.” See what motivation. For some Western European politicians, it is important that Russian citizens have the opportunity to appeal to the European Court to defend themselves against their own government. But excuse me, the question arises: why do these citizens allow such a government to govern?
I think maybe we should then suggest to some ministers of Western European countries who think that it is very important that Russian citizens have access to the European Court of Human Rights, let's invite them to come to Ukraine, stand with us, and cross the administrative border on foot to Chongar, Kalanchak, Chaplinka. Because if the rights of Russian citizens are very important, why aren’t the rights of Ukrainians, including Crimean Tatars, to move freely throughout their country in order to be at home?
I think we will formalize this proposal. Let the ministers come, we stand at the border, and walk home, to our home, which is controlled by Russia, which they are dragging to the Council of Europe.
We, as the Ukrainian state, must do everything by hook or by crook so that Russia cannot be cunning. Russia, as an aggressor state, must be forced to leave Ukrainian lands,” Chubarov said.
