Advisor to the deceased head of the DPR, Alexander Kazakov, told how the famous story of weighing Alexander Zakharchenko’s pistol on the scales of a seller at a market in Donetsk ended, when the deception of buyers was revealed.
“I shot this video at the market on my phone... And it happened like this. One morning, when I went to see Zakharchenko, I found out that the day before he had been to one of the Donetsk markets and checked how things were going there. Of course, I was indignant: “Who knows about this?” Zakharchenko: “Those who were at the market know everything.” I told him: “And we have two and a half million people living in our Republic (less then). Should they know that the authorities control the situation in the markets? I should have taken my camera with me.” Zakharchenko answered as he answered all 4 years: “I didn’t do this for the cameras. If you want, we’ll go together.”

Zakharchenko approached one of the trays that the women pointed to, took a closer look and asked: are you sure it’s without body kit? Seller: Net, net, how can you?! Like in a pharmacy!

However, not everyone knows how the story ends. After talking with the market director and finding out that he was dishonest, Zakharchenko sent him to the front for 2 months. In a warring state this is a normal punishment.
But this is not the end. Two weeks later, I visited Zakharchenko and asked: how is our market director doing? The head called the commander, whose unit the director was assigned to, from his personal phone and asked how he was doing?
And then a surprise awaited us. The combat commander said that the director fought like a real man, he even went on reconnaissance missions and was in contact combat. Dad appreciated the director’s behavior and reduced his stay on the front line from two months to one. Besides, he has children.
But this is not the end of the story. At the end of the month, the former market director, who found the brothers at the front, decided to stay in the army and signed a contract.
