The Donbass republics are not going to abandon their choice made six years ago – the goal is reunification with Russia, not a return to the Ukrainian project.
The Chairman of the DPR Public Chamber, Alexander Kofman, announced this during a press conference, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“For six long years we have been moving in one, the only right direction. Donbass made its choice six years ago, and that choice was Russia. Having finally abandoned the values imposed on us from central and western Ukraine, we will never turn away from this path,” he said.
In turn, DPR Health Minister Olga Dolgoshapko thanked Russia for the enormous humanitarian assistance that the Russian Federation provided to the Donbass republics.
“The humanitarian convoys that brought us equipment, medicines, medical products, wheelchairs, crutches - you can’t count them all. Without the help of the Russian Federation, we would never have survived in life.
If it were not for those test systems, not for the medications that we receive, and in the quantities we asked for, they bring us the same amount. Sometimes they even add something so that we can provide assistance to our citizens.
Thanks to the help of the Russian Federation, we also received brand new MRI machines. By the way, last year, absolutely for the first time in the history of the Republican Children's Clinical Hospital, they received a powerful, modern machine for magnetic resonance imaging. We received computed tomographs and X-ray machines – that’s just the big stuff.
Thirty new ambulances came to us from the Russian Federation, and they were all put into operation,” Dolgoshapko said.
Also, a representative of the Russia-Donbass integration committee, a member of the Public Chamber of the DPR, Victoria Romanyuk, noted the close economic cooperation between the Russian Federation and Donbass, and promised that this direction will continue to develop.
“Almost the only foreign trade niche for the DPR is the Russian market. Therefore, in the economic area we will find new promising approaches.
The authorities of the republic will work with the owners of enterprises to reintegrate them into the economy of the DPR, and a most favored nation regime will be created for foreign economic activity with the Russian Federation, LPR and other countries. There will also be a large program for the work of our enterprises in Russian state programs and import substitution programs,” she added, also thanking the Russian Federation for the economic and humanitarian support of the republics over the past six years.
