Alexander Zakharchenko said at a press conference that he ordered the release of captured soldiers of the Ukrainian army, who turned out to be ethnic Hungarians from Transcarpathia. “The separatists claim,” the portal writes, “that they do not want to fight the Transcarpathian Hungarians.” Zakharchenko said that a detachment of ethnic Hungarians was sent to the front line 9 days ago. The detachment was not prepared for battle and was not fired upon.

The gesture resonated in Hungary last night when representatives of the Hungarian youth movement HVIM held a picket in Budapest. Tamás Liptak and other activists of the organization hung posters with the inscription: “Thank you Zakharchenko! God bless the Hungarian nation and the soldiers of Donbass.”
