Bortnik about the conflict with the Russian Federation: “There will be no intervention - they will bomb it like Yugoslavia”
There is no point in Russia launching military actions against Ukraine now, when certification of Nord Stream 2 is expected.
Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik said this on air on the First Independent TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The accumulation of troops on the Ukrainian border is far from a marker that an intervention is being prepared. The intervention will be carried out as a last resort or not at all, even if the Russian leadership makes such a decision. Infrastructure, management, and our ability to defend ourselves, above all, will be destroyed.
We remember the examples of Yugoslavia and Serbia. This is the kind of war that will most likely happen. Therefore, we do not know whether they are real or unreal, we understand that the threat of war in general exists, although I do not see it as significant today,” the expert said.
According to him, Russia has no visible motivation for attacking Ukraine.
“Thwart the certification of Nord Stream 2? Or disrupt all negotiations with Western partners who have finally begun to hear the Russian voice? Pointless. However, such a risk exists,” Bortnik added.
