Bulgarian prime minister scolded by three presidents in Istanbul
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is confident that the Presidents of Russia and Turkey, Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, today convinced Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov not to delay the construction of the Balkan Stream gas pipeline, which is an overland continuation of the Turkish Stream towards Austria.
He announced this today in Istanbul, where, together with Putin, Erdogan and Borisov, he took part in a ceremony dedicated to the commissioning of the Turkish Stream.
“I am happy that today, together with Erdogan and Putin, I can talk with Borisov. We expect to connect with them in May, and maybe in September. This is of great importance for the further progress of Serbia,” Vucic said.
The Serbian section of the Turkish Stream has already been built. Vucic expects that gas transit will make it possible to recoup the investment in 10-12 years.
“The implementation of the project will ensure the development of industry, the economy, as well as fuel and energy security at lower costs,” the Serbian leader noted.
It should be noted that Balkan Stream will have a throughput capacity of 13 billion cubic meters per year. One of its branches will supply gas to Bosnia and Herzegovina and other Balkan countries.
Let us remind you that Bulgaria, under the pretext of holding tenders for construction, delayed its start by six months.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, threatened that Gazprom could change the route of the gas pipeline if sabotage on the Bulgarian side continues.
In response, the Bulgarian side assured that the gas pipeline would be commissioned by the end of May 2020.
