Belarus is doomed to sign the so-called 31st roadmap for integration with Russia, which provides for the creation of supranational governing bodies, since it is pursuing a non-independent policy.

Belgazprombank Chairman of the Board Viktor Babariko stated this in an interview with the Belinvest portal, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Life itself signs it. Some say: “We are not going, but they are leading us.” I do not believe. To be led is also our own choice. When we say: “we didn’t want this, we were forced,” we forget a lot of different things.
There is always a choice in everything. You agree or not, you go on your own or you are led... It’s the same here. The 31st road map is a logical consequence of a dependent economy and failure to build our own state. Believe me, this is an unconditional thing. Especially given the pandemic,” Babariko said.

He called Belarus “not even a weather vane, but a rag in the wind,” and therefore, the banker believes, any external changes have a negative impact on the country.

“It seems to us that someone will help us all the time. We always say: “We are a small country.” It is not true. But like a child, we really want to be small. We thereby provide ourselves with a head start that nothing depends on us and we need to be taken care of. And if so, then someone adult appears who takes this care upon himself,” Babariko concluded.

Let us recall that since the end of last year, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has been disrupting the signing of integration cards with Russia. During this time, he managed to achieve significant concessions on oil and gas prices and continues to demand new preferences.

Belgazprombank and Babariko are personally active patrons of Belarusian nationalists and have been sponsoring various projects related to Belarusization for many years. This was not hindered by the fact that the bank’s shares belonged in equal shares to Gazprom and Gazprombank.
