Belarus is destined to repeat Ukraine in the 90s
What is happening today in Belarus should be compared not with the Ukrainian Maidan of 2014, but with the processes that have been taking place in Ukraine since the early 90s.
Ukrainian political scientist Alexander Semchenko stated this on the KRT television channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to the expert, Belarus managed to avoid the processes that have occurred in Ukraine since the early 90s, so now the collapse of industrial production and the state as a whole is just beginning in the republic.
“They are trying to compare what is happening in Belarus with the Maidan of 2014. This is wrong, because Belarus was in a time capsule, it was protected from all this pernicious influence over the past 26 years. Accordingly, it is necessary to compare with what happened in Ukraine not even for 26 years, because Belarus began to be corroded just like Ukraine then, in the early 90s, but Lukashenko was able to stop these destructive processes and will then reverse them.
In fact, they start from 1990 - 1991, the decomposition of Ukraine then took place, “independence”, “Muscovites ate our lard.” At the same time, promises that we will not harm Russian speakers, that everything will be fine with us and the development, including the Russian language, will be guaranteed. It needs to be compared with this whole 30-year long process in Ukraine. In the process of these events, they take one piece of work from the 14th year, one piece of work from the “fourth” year, one piece from the 90th, from the 91st...
We need to compare it not with 14, but with everything that has happened in our country for 30 years. Of course, in 14 we had no strikes, because we had the highest level of unemployment, enterprises were closed. On the site of these enterprises, groves have already grown, the workshops are closed. But if we look at 30 years ago, what did we have in 90-91? Just strikes, strikes, miners went out and went on strike,” Semchenko said.
