“The staff of Donbass has been expanded to 700 people. The influx of volunteers is huge, so work will be carried out in the near future to prepare and train recruits. We were given heavy weapons,” the battalion’s press service reports on its Facebook page.
The fighters of the Donbass battalion who emerged from encirclement near Ilovaisk are on rotation. The wounded and those in captivity were taken to hospitals, where they received qualified medical care.
According to the press service, all Donbass fighters not deployed in Ilovaisk will not be sent for rotation. It is also reported that the families of the fighters will soon receive financial assistance.
“Now active work is underway to remove other representatives of the Donbass battalion from captivity. All possible and impossible methods are used - both with the help of the state and initiative groups. The work will not stop until the last soldier is released from captivity,” the battalion says.
As PolitNavigator reported, the battalion suffered especially hard during the fighting in Ilovaisk and when trying to escape the encirclement. Many blame the failure of the battalion commander Semyon Semenchenko, saying that because of his “recklessness” reconnaissance activities were not carried out, and then the order to retreat was not given in time.
