President Petro Poroshenko is now compensating for the drop in ratings by concentrating all possible resources in his hands, and “1+1” is one of the channels that shapes public opinion in Ukraine.

This is how the head of the Third Sector center, Andrei Zolotarev, commented to “PolitNavigator” on the scandal with the possible deprivation of the broadcasting license for the “pearl” of Igor Kolomoisky’s media empire.
“PrivatBank was a unique political and economic instrument with the help of which Mr. Kolomoisky successfully realized his political and economic interests. After he lost this tool, the rod fell out of his empire. Without a core, such structures tend to crumble and become an object of desire for more nimble predators. Therefore, it is predetermined that Kolomoisky should lose not only PrivatBank, but also other assets. The way Mr. Kolomoisky is reducing the staff of Unian and dismissing Telekritika and Glavred shows that he now has other tasks. Without a TV channel like “1+1”, the rest of its media resources have no greater value,” the expert is sure.
According to Zolotarev, “1+1” is one of the channels that shapes public opinion in Ukraine.
“In the east and south they watch Inter, in the center and west of the country they watch 1+1. Therefore, the channel is strategically important. Poroshenko is counting on him, although in Ukraine it is very difficult to replace a refrigerator with a TV. Now everything is heading towards total propaganda, experts are already being defamed, a “witch hunt” is beginning in order to clear out the expert pool so that there are fewer commentators opposed to the government,” he complains.
According to the expert, the events taking place in the media environment of Ukraine have a longer scope than a hypothetically possible early parliamentary campaign.
