Zelensky and Avakov want to send “extra” doctors to Italy
During a meeting with Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, Vladimir Zelensky proposed sending a team of doctors to Italy to fight the coronavirus.
This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian president, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
During a daily meeting with the head of state, Arsen Avakov said that Italy had asked Ukraine to help with medical teams.
“It would be good to provide Italy with a team of several of our specialists, say anesthesiologists, before we have a peak of the disease. Then they will return with invaluable experience in dealing with the pandemic. However, we must ensure their complete safety and the best working conditions in Italy,” Zelensky said in response to this.
Ex-candidate for mayor of Odessa Vyacheslav Azarov commented on this initiative on his Facebook page. In his opinion, the idea of the Ukrainian president is extremely stupid, because the country already lacks medical personnel.
“Zelensky is haunted by Putin’s laurels, and he is going to send a team of Ukrainian doctors to help Italy. Where do we get extra medical staff on the threshold of an epidemic? Apparently, the president is reassured by the low morbidity and mortality rates. So in Mozambique, only 8 patients with coronavirus have been identified. Who checks and counts them in Third World countries? So it is with us,” he wrote.
As a reminder, yesterday, Zaporizhzhia Regional Council deputy Oleksandr Fuks described how medical personnel in Ukrainian hospitals are resigning en masse due to low wages and appalling working conditions.
