Behind the scenes at Inter: Poroshenko’s technologists are trying to get Boyko into the second round
On the eve of May 9, the Ukrainian security forces “gave nightmares” exclusively to the left-wing political forces, but did not touch the former regionals from the “Opposition Bloc.”
Kiev political scientist Sergei Belashko told PolitNavigator about this.
“I suspect that Bankova is considering the scenario of bringing Yuriy Boyko into the second round, a convenient sparring partner for Poroshenko, as they say,” the expert does not rule out.
He noted that, other than the beating of human rights activist Elena Berezhnaya in Kyiv , there were no serious clashes in Ukraine on May 9. Belashko also recalled that on May 8, the security services harshly pressured left-wing political forces.
“At the same time, the Opposition Bloc, its activities and events, did not experience any pressure from the authorities. There was some pressure from right-wing radicals, but it was warned quite harshly and in advance by the police and, probably, the same intelligence services. We must also take into account that the popular right-wing radicals, those on TV, all conduct their activities under the patronage of the SBU and, partly, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the prosecutor's office.
The only event of the left forces that I saw (and even it was not on TV) was a joint action of the Socialist Party and the Republic Party, and it was very “intimate” - 50 people gathered, three flags were unfurled, two party flags and the flag of Ukraine, They took pictures, posted it all on social networks and sent out releases to the media, but the media, again, did not publish it,” the expert noted.
He also emphasized that the Inter TV channel announced an anti-fascist orientation in advance, but neither the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting nor the radicals are doing anything serious.
Belashko does not rule out that the actions of a couple of dozen radicals near the TV channel’s offices were coordinated in advance with the police and the owners of Inter. In the end, it all ended with the ritual burning of the steps - and nothing more.
“It is worth adding that the Inter concert could have serious consequences. There is a mobilization of anti-Ukrainian forces, and it can result not only in a vote for Boyko in a year, but also, for example, in individual terror.
In general, according to the results of the holiday, there were two figures in the information space: Poroshenko and Boyko. Tymoshenko and Gritsenko actually withdrew and did not use this topic in any way. Populists were also not heard,” Belashko said.
It is worth noting that this kind of technology was used by the owner of Inter, Sergei Lyovochkin, earlier, when under President Yanukovych this channel promoted the nationalist Svoboda in order, as experts say, to bring its leader Oleg Tyagnibok to the second round, thereby forcing the electorate to give up preference for the lesser of two evils.
