Acting Deputy Speaker Governor Alexander Svechnikov announced a draft resolution prepared by the government.
According to him, the project was developed in accordance with the city Charter and does not contradict the current legislation, which allocates no more than two months for this.
“After the elections to the Legislative Assembly on September 14, it is necessary to hold elections for governor with a new composition. The government proposes to schedule them on October 9,” he said.
Some of the deputies tried to declare the need for nationwide elections of the head of the city - Sevastopol was deprived of this during the times of Ukraine.
So, Vladimir Demchenko tried to find out when the residents of Sevastopol would have the right to elect their own head of the city, and when changes would be made to the city Charter. To which Svechnikov said that making changes to the city charter is inappropriate, and 24 deputies of the legislative assembly can successfully elect a governor from 3 candidates.
As a result, the deputies voted for the government draft with 39 votes, and the decision was made.
Let us remind you that on September 14, elections to the Legislative Assembly of Sevastopol will take place. Citizens will elect 16 people from party lists and 8 from majoritarian lists.
