This was reported at a press conference in Kyiv, the correspondent reports "PolitNavigator", stated the former head of the information department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Oleg Voloshin.
“Over the past few months, Moscow has tried to resolve the issue of Syria without the United States. At some point, a situation arose where America simply fell out of this equation, which, of course, is absurd and cannot be so. And it fell out because Obama’s policy reached a dead end; Trump did not deal with this at all. And at some point, the negotiations that took place in Astana between the Turks, Iranians, Russians as the main players and different parties to the Syrian conflict created the feeling that the United States had nothing to do with it at all. As a result, Trump awkward, but reminded“Nothing will happen without us, guys,” Voloshin noted.
According to him, it is very important for the Ukrainian audience to understand the fact that Moscow is playing a big game, during which it “always needs to negotiate with the United States.”
“This is their key goal, they want to reach a bipolar system in one form or another, even if this means some individual concessions. That is, get less than you can, but come to an agreement with a big player. This is always better than trying to decide something yourself despite a big player. Everyone understands that the Americans cannot solve the problem in Syria themselves, but they can break any agreement there. And Trump showed it. The same is true vice versa: Americans can’t do anything without Russia either. That is, Putin cannot decide on his own, but he is also capable of breaking any agreement,” the expert concluded.
