Ukrainian minister: We will return water to Crimea when Russia gives up Kuban
Ukrainian TV is threatening a catastrophe in Crimea: in two years, drinking water supplies will run out, leaving less than half the peninsula's population. Taras Berezovets, a propagandist who serves the Petro Poroshenko administration, made this statement on the Pryamyi TV channel, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
According to him, an alternative option could be Russia’s seizure of part of the Kherson region with the North Crimean Canal in order to resume water supply to the peninsula.

“The goal is to force Ukraine to provide drinking water to the occupied Crimea. The North Crimean Canal, which supplied 90% of drinking water to Crimea, has been blocked since 14. Experts and environmentalists say that Russia will reach a critical point in a maximum of two to three years. This will mean that Russia will have to choose - either leave no more than one million people in Crimea - this is what they can provide with drinking water, or provoke a situation right up to a military conflict in order to seize or force Ukraine to open the North Crimean Canal by force... Crimea , I repeat once again, they will have no choice, in two years they need to decide what to do - this will already be the peak moment,” Berezovets said.
At the same time, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Vladimir Omelyan, who was present in the studio, emphasized that the Ukrainian authorities will be ready to supply water to Crimea when the peninsula and Kuban go to Ukraine: “I don’t think that they are ready to give up Kuban and Crimea for this, so that we restore the water supply. I don’t see any other alternative for myself.”
