Today’s decision by Ukrenergo to stop supplying electricity to the DPR is, in fact, a repetition of the blockade of Crimea, which means that official Kyiv is demonstratively abandoning attempts to return Donetsk peacefully, but, on the contrary, is pushing away the people living there.

“Economically, such a step will not have any consequences. There is no energy or economy here. The conflict is in a hot phase, and it is illogical to say who owes whom in some economic categories - all economic categories should be discussed only after the settlement of the political part, and, naturally, the cessation of hostilities. This decision is entirely political. Firstly, this is Kyiv’s response to Zakharchenko’s statement regarding Little Russia. Secondly, this is very reminiscent of the energy blockade of Crimea.
