Ukrainian media justify Hitler's SS with “national values”

In Ukraine, attempts continue to whitewash Nazi units in which ethnic Ukrainians served.
This is evidenced, in particular, by the material published in the latest issue of the magazine “ Kraina ”, reports a correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.

“The recent march in memory of the SS division “Galicia” in Kyiv extremely outraged the liberal public. Neither “Galicia” nor its symbols can be subject to the law condemning the communist and national socialist regime. Including because even the most ardent dreamers are unlikely to consider its warriors Nazis.
The symbols of the SS division "Galicia", which combines two coats of arms of Galicia from different historical times, were recognized by the court as not being Nazi by a separate decision. Therefore, it is unclear what exactly some government officials are relying on when threatening the march participants with criminal charges,” the article notes.
At the same time, the author does not deny that during World War II, Ukrainians fought in Hitler’s army.
“But the value of the SS division “Galicia” lies precisely in the fact that it was perceived as such and such an ersatz of the Ukrainian army. Subsequently, it was turned into the Ukrainian National Army. It's late, of course. Which ultimately does not change the fact that she fought on the side of the Germans and this whole story is quite complicated. However, there are many complex stories in World War II,” the magazine summarizes.
As PolitNavigator reported, this year, the Ukrainian capital hosted its first march in honor of the SS division, with Kyiv beginning to suspect "Moscow's hand" in its organization. Previously, marches honoring this division had been held exclusively in the country's western regions.
