The Ukrainian delegation demanded the resignation of the PACE President for visiting “dictator Assad”
Members of the Ukrainian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of Europe (PACE) announced their demand for the resignation of the president of this international body, Pedro Agramunt, because of his trip to Syria in March with a delegation of Russian parliamentarians. Ukrainian people's deputies write about this on their Facebook pages.

“The PACE President announces at a group of the European People's Party that he made a mistake when he flew to Syria on a Russian plane and met with the tyrant Assad. But repentance, in our opinion, is not enough. Unfortunately, the PACE regulations do not provide for the procedure for impeaching the president. Therefore, it is necessary either to change the regulations, or the voluntary resignation of Pedro Agramunt. This is the position not only of the Ukrainian delegation, but also of many others. We’ll see if our votes are enough,” wrote People’s Deputy Leonid Yemets.
According to his colleague Irina Gerashchenko, Agramunt refused a direct offer to resign.
“He says that he was naive and misled by the insidious and vile Russians, that he did not know where, why and with whom he was flying, that there should have been no media there, that he was flying as a Spanish senator, and not as the President of PACE . Then Agramunt traditionally fled,” writes Gerashchenko.
At the same time, Gerashchenko herself, just like Agramunt, whom she criticizes, blames Russia.
“We protest against the violation of PACE principles, we are outraged by these attempts by the Russians to remotely destroy PACE,” Gerashchenko wrote.
