Ukrainian and Russian intelligence services conducted extensive surveillance of members of the Dutch mission that came to Ukraine to investigate the crash of flight MH-17.

However, Dutch sources claim that while espionage by Ukraine, which is part of the international team of investigators, is a very sensitive issue, surveillance by Russian intelligence services was more structured and extensive.
Dutch employees in Ukraine were advised not to use public Wi-Fi, but for some reason their electronic devices became active and tried to connect to the Internet.
They also found bugging devices in hotels, and upon returning to the Netherlands, malicious software was found on their electronic devices.
Dutch politicians demanded clarification from Ukraine.
“It is important that this came to the surface, the Netherlands must tell Ukraine: this cannot happen. We are on the same side and we should not work with a secret agenda,” said Green Left MP Gate van Oyck.
It is also noted that the Dutch government most likely knew about the wiretapping.
