This was discussed during a press conference on the topic: “War for Donbass: What will the reintegration law lead to?” said Member of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security Olga Kovitidi, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Western countries need complete control over their territories, and we understand this very well, in order to create a source of tension, which you and I also know about, near the borders of the Russian Federation. What will be quite relevant in the near future?
First: Russian presidential elections. How will Ukraine, or rather its overseas masters, behave?
Second: autumn 2018. Elections of heads of republics in the DPR and LPR. Naturally, Ukraine is interested in ensuring that peacekeepers enter the territory of the LDPR even before they begin and that the dismantling of the republics is carried out.
At this time today, no one is interested in there being an armed conflict, I mean the Russian Federation. And today we categorically reject this decision. If we talk about the Munich Security Conference, it allows for the reorganization of the republics, but not their dismantling,” Kovitidi said.
