Ukraine has become a country that bans everything Soviet, but in reality uses KGB methods, wiretapping any undesirable member of parliament, activist, or ordinary citizen. Human rights activist Vladimir Chemeris stated this on the NewsOne television channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

According to him, in today's Ukraine, snitching and criminal prosecution for expressing one's thoughts on social networks are rampant.

“We are turning into a country of total wiretapping, total surveillance. We see constant videos published either by the Prosecutor General's Office or the SBU about the fact that they are listening to this, that, that. I'm not even talking about what's posted on the Internet. We must understand why we are creating these security forces - do we want to turn into the Soviet Union and the KGB, or do we want a free country where they won’t follow you, knock on you, re-read your posts on Facebook and put you in jail for them?” Chemeris said.
