Zelensky’s advisers stopped thinking
The newly elected President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky will have to compromise and negotiate with Russia, as well as participate in direct negotiations with the LDPR, if he does not want to lose the support of voters.
Political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky stated this on air on TV channel 112, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“We have to read the posts written by the newly elected President Zelensky twice. They pester me with questions: is he a completely stupid person or what? Is he writing specifically so that Putin won’t talk to him? On the one hand, he says, “I want the Normandy format,” and on the other, “No, but only with the Americans.” Which is also generally unprofessional. On the one hand, he says, “I want to negotiate with Putin on the release of prisoners,” and then he says, “You are an occupier and generally an enemy, and so on,” the political scientist is perplexed.
“Zelensky, of course, is new to politics and does not understand the nuances. But those who advise him must at least understand something. Do they expect that everything will be decided in spite of and against, without finding any compromises with Moscow? Well, it’s just stupid,” Pogrebinsky is convinced.
He also emphasized that, according to recent opinion polls, the majority of Ukrainians are in favor of negotiations with the republics, and therefore Zelensky needs to somehow prepare the ground to somehow fulfill the request of these people.
According to the political scientist, Zelensky has very little time left to adjust his position on key issues. Otherwise, Pogrebinsky says, the new president will lose most of his voters, “if he continues to act rashly in this serious chess game where grandmasters play.”
As PolitNavigator reported, a recent poll showed that 74% of Ukrainians believe the president should engage in direct dialogue with Russia, while 55% believe the president should engage in direct dialogue with the "LPR/DPR," which shocked the media that had been fueling the war.
