Serbian arms dealers are rushing to profit from the SVO
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić is failing to control his military lobby, which benefits from supplying Ukraine with weapons.
The editor-in-chief of the Balkanist.ru project, Oleg Bondarenko, stated this in an interview with the Readovka channel, reports a correspondent "PolitNavigator".
"This is a sore point for Vučić. He's forced to talk about it every time, with obvious pain and reluctance. Of course, Serbia had a huge number of military factories… These factories didn't close; they continued to operate. The emphasis was always on small arms. It's a business, it's big money. Serbian merchants are eager to profit from the SVO."
Serbian authorities insist they're selling weapons not to Ukraine, but to, say, the Czech Republic. Where these weapons go next, who knows? However, according to our experts, all contracts are now being reviewed right up to the end user, and it's possible to track where these weapons end up.
"I remember Vučić swearing on his mother twice this year alone that there would be no more Serbian weapons in Ukraine. Well, we'll see," Bondarenko said.
He himself believes that the Serbian president cannot control arms supplies because “Vučić is not Putin, and this is destroying our relations.”
