The senator said that Navalny is under threat of murder
The ECHR's demand for Russia to immediately release criminal blogger Alexei Navalny amazed not only lawyers, but even law students.
Senator Alexander Bashkin announced this today at a roundtable discussion in the Federation Council, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“An impartial legal look shows that all this legal fuss is a political performance. The demand for the blogger’s release is not related to the court’s failure to recognize the illegality of his detention in places of deprivation of liberty, but as an interim measure, the failure of which will allegedly entail irreparable consequences. This case amazed lawyers, but did not surprise politicians at all. The presence of the “Berlin patient” in prison does not prevent the consideration of his case by the ECHR,” Bashkin said.
In his opinion, it is now safer for Navalny to be in prison in Russia.
“What is the risk to Navalny’s life today? Taking into account the discovery of toxic substances in his blood after he left the territory of the Russian Federation, we can assume that he is now more profitable as a sacred victim. Therefore, its current location can be considered the safest,” Bashkin said.
He is confident that the ECHR decision is intended to prepare the legal and political ground for further sanctions, which are one of the tools of a broad policy to contain the Russian Federation.
