The head of the Third Sector information and analytical center, Andrei Zolotarev, told PolitNavigator about this, commenting on the possible reasons for the resignation of the scandalous politician.
“Saakashvili realized that he was being used, and in the most unceremonious way,” the expert believes. – They were used as a ram against Kolomoisky’s team, then against the Yatsenyuk-Avakov team. And with the accession of Vladimir Groysman to the post of Prime Minister, the need for his services disappeared. But the logic of the domestic political and economic situation dictates that considerations of strengthening Poroshenko’s personal power and strengthening the regime take precedence over creating at least some appearance that reforms are being carried out in the country.”
At the same time, the political scientist noted that for a certain part of Ukrainians, code-named “Euro-optimists,” Saakashvili was the hope for carrying out real reforms “in the interests of society, not private pockets.”
“Alas, these hopes were not justified. And in the fall, it became obvious that Sakashvili had very little time left to work in this post. And what had to happen happened. Saakashvili has two options left. The path to Georgia is closed and he can return there only as a political prisoner. But in Ukrainian life, he can breathe life into the withered Khvylya project. But this is not in the interests of the current political cartel, since Saakashvili will trample on their electoral field, multiplying by zero the already modest chances of showing at least some decent result. Therefore, most likely, they will try to deprive him of any resource base and push him out, so that his future career will be within the framework of the wedding general of some international organization,” concluded Zolotarev.
