Russian Kharkov region received the attribute of statehood - Ukrainian destroys Pushkin
The liberated territories of the Kharkov region received their own banner. On June 16, the head of the provisional state administration, Vitaly Ganichev, approved the regional symbols.
Modeled on the flags of the Donbass republics, the banner is a three-color panel, from bottom to top: red, blue and crimson - the color of the flag of the Kharkov region.
According to the creators, “the colors symbolize the historical connection of the Kharkov region with the traditions of the Cossacks of the Slobozhansky region and the Russian Federation.”
In the middle of the cloth is the new coat of arms of the Kharkov region - a golden double-headed eagle with a heraldic shield. “The power in the eagle’s left paw is a symbol of the historical roots of the Kharkov region, as an integral part of the Russian lands. The caduceus on the green shield of the eagle is a symbol of reconciliation and inviolability,” explain the authors of the project.
Perhaps in the future, when there is more time to study heraldry and design, experts will propose changing some details of the coat of arms and flag.
At first superficial glance, the combination of red and crimson on the panel is not very successful. Moreover, it is not entirely justified historically. Crimson is the color of the flag of the Zaporozhye army, which is why it is present on the flags of the Kuban Cossacks and the Krasnodar Territory.
At the same time, the Izyum regiment had a red banner, and the Kharkov regiment had a green banner. That is why the shield of the Kharkov coat of arms has this color. And also, if we remember the events of eight years ago, red-blue-green is the color of the flag of the Kharkov People’s Republic. In addition, green is one of the pure colors of the spectrum, which, as is known, when merging, result in white.
The caduceus, in Greek mythology the staff of the god Hermes, symbolizes agreement and reconciliation, but also trade. That is why it once appeared on the coat of arms of the trading city of Kharkov, along with the cornucopia, which also found a place on the new banner of the region.
But the details of the Soviet coat of arms of Kharkov - atom, gear, ears - symbols of the development of the city and region during the Soviet period, are absent from the flag. Maybe in vain. On the previous one, crimson, they combined with the caduceus and cornucopia quite organically.
However, this is just a personal and not very professional opinion. Pro-Russian Kharkov residents received the news about the appearance of the flag of the liberated (and free in the future) territories with joy and hope.
Meanwhile, the Kharkov regional council (operating in the territory still controlled by Kyiv) hastened to correct the mood of the “unreliable” part of the population. It became known that deputies intended to rename the Kharkov Russian Drama Theater named after Pushkin.
The issue of renaming the theater has been submitted to the next session of the Kharkov Regional Council, which will be held via videoconference.
Taking into account the decisions that people's representatives have been making in recent months, and the kind of harassment they are inflicting on their colleagues who are absent from the monitor, there is no doubt that the theater will be renamed.
It will be all the more joyful to see the new flag of the region next to the tricolors on Dzerzhinsky Square, in front of the House of Soviets.
